What We’ve Done

 

The Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk, on May 17^th, was GREAT!  Jessica had 20 church family members and 17 friends and family in attendance.  We all had a wonderful time as we walked in honor of Jessica.  As far as I know, Preacher Larry, Brian, Donna and Shelia all finished the entire 6.2 miles.  We had the most beautiful weather and the most wonderful time of laughter and friendship together. 

 

 

So Now What?

 

Keep your eyes and ears open in church and youth group.  I am trying to get a swim date / cook out planned.

 

Well VBS of course!  Remember to get yourselves registered for VBS.  The dates are July 27, 28, 29, 30 and August 3.  There will be classes and activities planned just for the middle and high schoolers, so don’t come alone – bring a friend or two, or three......

 

On Wednesday, August 13^th many of the area churches are planning on “Going Back to School Pool Bash” at Court South on Alcoa Highway from 7-9 pm.  There will be a small fee for this event in order to cover the charges for lifeguards, the band, the pool rental and of course, the food.  I MUST have a head count for this event guys, as I will need to be sure to have enough transportation and youth sponsors available.  There is a sign-up sheet on the Youth Board downstairs outside the sanctuary.

 

 

Our Weekly Manna

 

Our Wednesday night curriculum is called, “CHRIST: The Life of Christ: The Basis of Faith”.

 

During the month of June we studied how Jesus has power over nature, how Jesus really can meet all of our needs, how Jesus has power over death and on June 25^th Mr. Larry shared his heart with us as he taught us about the grieving process.  Thank you Mr. Larry.

 

On Sunday nights we continue our study entitled “Answers in Genesis”. Each Sunday night’s study will consist of a 30-minute video with a discussion period following.  To allow enough time to get through each night’s activities, all the middle and high school youth will meet upstairs in the youth room at 6:30 pm.  Communion will be provided upstairs in our prayer room for whoever did not have the opportunity to partake on Sunday morning.  This should be a GREAT study so please plan on attending - and bring a friend or two.

 

Thinking about inviting a friend or two to church?  Now would be a great time!

 

KEEP UP the “fishin for friends”!  YOU GUYS ARE DOING GREAT!  Brittanie, Martin, Jessie, Tiffany and Jessica have all been busy inviting friends to church – great job guys.

 

From talking with quite a few of you I have discovered that many of you made either 1^st or 2^nd Honors at school this year.  It is not easy to keep those grades up while juggling everything else in your lives.  I am very proud of each one of you and thank you for doing your best.
